| People move to the country to get away
from crime, noise and crowding to find a place where they can spread
out, build the home of their dreams, raise a family, have a few animals
and garden. They seldom stop to consider that moving away from
infrastructure – city water and sewer - may affect their ability to
enjoy the very things they moved to the country to find.
When you depend on nature for your water
supply, you have to make do with what you get. If you move to an area
where low yield wells are common, your water supply might not be what
you were expecting.
When Karen moved to the Sourland
Mountains in central New Jersey, she had no idea that the area was
locally known for its low yield wells. On this page are pictures of
Karen’s home and gardens which she operates without ever taking more
than 1 ˝ gallons per minute from her well.
Every shower in this house can be run at
the same time, while the dishwasher is running. Karen’s Christmas party
is attended by 80 – 100 neighbors and this yard hosts several large
picnics a year.
You are probably wondering how one does
that with a 1 ˝ gpm water supply! It’s not hard really. You simply need
a Well Manager® and a little ingenuity. The Well Manager® operates the
house without a thought but watering all of those gardens and potted
plants requires some thought. You can’t just take a garden hose that
pumps 14 gpm and let it run while you wander off because you will run
out of water if you do that.
You can use drip irrigation,
timers and hand watering to get the result you see here using
wells with fairly low yield. As you can see, Karen seems happy
with her life and the property looks more like a garden center
than a lot in the Sourland Mountains. Well Manager® and Herculan
ConstaBoost Static Storage Systems can create an oasis for anyone
willing to put in the effort and can be used to run automated
landscape irrigation systems using low yield wells. For more
