"A
few words about Jim Calahan and our Well Manager;
We purchased a home in the East
Mountains outside of Albuquerque, New Mexico in March 2003. We
talked to Jim beforehand and felt assured that we would be able to
control water usage and take care of our aquifer with a Well
Manager.
There were many friends that told us
it was iffy to buy because this area is known for poor wells. Down
the road a developer drilled 7 dry holes before giving up. Our
neighbor up the street is in a water-haul home with no hope of
selling because they don't want to spend the money drilling with
little hope of finding water.
Three weeks after moving in and
before our Well Manager was installed, our well pump burned up. We
have a home warranty that covers the well so, with some difficulty,
our pump was replaced by a local driller and paid for by the
warranty company.
I was out of town that week so Jim
Calahan made a point to oversee the repair. The driller put the new
pump down into the sludge at bottom of the well and proceeded to
tell us that it was dry. Jim advised him to locate the pump slightly
higher and then we got water.
During the entire time our well was
down Jim hauled water for us, never thinking for a minute that it
was okay for us to be without water - and we hadn't even installed
our Well Manager yet!
Jim found a local plumber and
electrician to assist with the installation inside our house. He
oversaw the installation making sure that every step was done
perfectly. At every step he was sure to keep us in the loop,
allaying any fears we had. Wells are almost a black art here so he
did his best to keep us in the science end and out of the artsy end
of the business.
When the installation was complete he
followed up to verify our usage, helping us to establish the amount
of water that could be safely pumped from our well each day. At
present we are pumping 10 gallons per hour. With time and experience
we have learned not to over tax the aquifer. We are careful not to
waste water; we live in the high desert so that is part of life.
Features
we enjoy:
- The pressure is remarkable. It is
altogether as good as or better than what we had in the city. That
is a HUGE selling point
- We find ourselves tracking usage
much more carefully and the Well Manager system allows us to do
that. We can be frugal and well cared for all at the same time.
When we had an underground tank we knew when we didn't have water
because there was nothing coming from the faucet. Now we can see
how much water we are using and can watch our usage and time loads
of wash etc. so there is even enough to backwash the softener now.
- As we've grown accustomed to our
system we have become much more relaxed. I do find myself checking
for 3 green lights first thing in the morning and when I get home
from work. I also walk into the Well Manager room occasionally
around the time it cycles just to watch the action and listen to
the sounds as another 10 gallons goes into the tank. We don't
worry about whether or not it will work. Now we expect it to work
and watch for ways to ensure that.
Honestly speaking, had it not been
for Jim's customer service, we might only be pleased with our Well
Manager, But Jim's way of doing business and his service before and
after the sale, we're not just pleased but extremely thankful to
have the opportunity to talk about him AND our system. We told Jim
he can bring people by to see our system if they have any doubt
about installing one for their property.
Thank you for the opportunity to talk
about our Well Manager and Jim Calahan. Here in New Mexico he has
set the standard for managing water pumped from private wells. Were
glad to call him a friend."
