Emergency Shower installation with inadequate or no potable water source
Combination eye wash / deluge shower stations like the one on the right require a flow of 20 gpm @ 60-100 degrees F for 15 minutes. This can be accomplished using a specially adapted Herculan ConstaBoost Storage System with 400 gallons of storage.
For situations with no potable water supply, use model # SSPB210+210LFV100-20. This unit has no inlet water piping and is filled through the tank access opening.
If there is a local cold water supply line but it will not provide the required flow use SSPB210+210WSV100-20EF. This unit has a fill controlled by an electric solenoid valve operated by a float.
Either of these units will provided the required flow for 15 minutes. When installed in an area where ambient temperature is between 60 degrees F. and 100 degrees F., the water temperature will be within the required range. It is suggested that water stored in these tanks be chlorinated. A chlorine tester is furnished with the unit for the initial treatment and subsequent maintenance.
These systems are made up of two 210 gallon tanks connected together with a 1 ½” manifold at the bottom. The pump is located in tank #1 and there is a 1” valved pipe connected to the pressure discharge and to tank #2. Opening this valve will start water flowing from tank #1 to tank #2. This arrangement allows the system to be tested without discharging a lot of storage, helps with chlorine adjustment and as a means of bringing the initial water content up to the required minimum temperature.
These systems can be furnished with the 210 gallon tanks in the upright position or, when height is a problem, oriented horizontally. The vertical system measures 52”W x 50”D x 74”H and the horizontally oriented system is 52”W x 73”Dx49”H.
